Frequently Asked Questions

What does Daeji mean and how do you pronounce it?

Daeji is Korean for pig (돼지). Phonetically: "dw-eh-jee". Technically it's dwaeji but when I tested that spelling out, people kept butchering that pronunciation so I used the simplified form.

When and where is the bakery opening?

We're currently under construction at 1360 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657. We're expecting to be open by September 2025 but who knows.

Do you offer gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan options?

For the farmers market we have traditionally offered GF and vegan options and will try to continue to do so at our new brick & mortar location. We've done gluten-free scones and vegan kimchi focaccia (also DF) so expect something similar.

Why aren't you at the farmers market anymore?

We really tried to be at the farmers market for most of the summer this year but June proved to be a little too busy with all the construction going on at the brick & mortar location. You likely won't find us at the farmers market this year again unfortunately.

Why does your website look like it was made in 2008?

Because that was the last time I took a web dev class.
